Is It Enough? – Yes, we all gnashed are teeth & bemoaned the Packers fate during the first few days of Free Agency when we saw the big names coming off the board & Packers GM Ted Thompson not doing anything. Looking at most of those deals though you have to be happy Thompson didn’t overspend & even with the resigning of Shields that deal doesn’t look too bad. Then out of the blue Thompson surprised us all with the signing of Julius Peppers, something no one saw coming. Sure, Peppers may be getting up there but he’s still a force to be reckoned with & will help the defense. Thompson also went out and got DT Letroy Guion, re-signed Mike Neal, BJ Raji (for a song), Andrew Quarless and just yesterday James Starks. So really, Thompson did break character this year and was pretty active in free agency. There weren’t any huge, big name signings but let’s face it, there never were going to be with Thompson in charge. I do think though the moves Thompson has made makes the Packers a better team and that’s really all we can ask for. So did he do enough? As of right now, on paper, I would have to say yes.
