May Have Made Things Interesting – For month’s now it’s been a given that safeties Clinton-Dix & Pryor have been 1a & 1b (or vice versa) when it comes to Safeties entering the NFL Draft. However, after his performance at the NFL Combine Deone Bucannon & the less then eye popping stats Clinton-Dix & Pryor put up, Bucannon may have made a case for moving up at that position. Obviously the Packers need help at Safety & it’s been the hope of Packers fans everywhere that Clinton-Dix or Pryor would be available at pick #21. Teams picking before the Packers need safety help too though so it’s no guarantee either of those guys would be available but with Bucannon’s outing at the Combine does that mean there are now 3 legitimate first round safeties in this draft? What makes this interesting to me is with all the needs on the defensive side of the ball will we see Ted do what he did in 2009 & move back into the first round to snag another player? Let’s say the Packers pick one of the D-linemen at 21, Louis Nix or Ra’shede Hageman & then one of those top 3 safeties are still there come pick 25-32. Would it be worth trading a 2 nd or 3 rd round pick to move back into the 1 st round & grab one of the safeties, plugging two holes on the defense? It’s a tempting thought & there is a precedence but could also just be wishful thinking but with Thompson, you never know.
