Hyde On The Move – Over this weekend at the NFL Combine Packers coach Mike McCarthy let drop some thoughts on second year pro Micah Hyde & the possibility of him moving to safety. While far from conclusive as to if that would happen, making that move just seems to me to be a very Packers thing to do. There’s a good chance that neither of the top two safeties in the upcoming draft, Calvin Pryor & Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix, will be there when the Packers pick at 21. D-line is another area of need for Green Bay although not as much as safety but if the Packers think Hyde can fill that need & fill it solidly the focus in the draft could change. As I said above, developing a safety from within would be entirely Thompson’s way of doing things as well so moving Hyde would hardly be out of character for the Packers GM. My guess is the decision on moving Hyde to safety won’t be made until after the draft is completed & the possibility of that move is more of a back pocket option for right now.
