Hold Up For A While At Least – Out of the blue it seems I’ve seen more and more discussion about whether or not Sam Dekker will go pro after this season. There was this piece thinking Dekker should go pro & then this one which advocating he should stick around . There’s no doubt at all that Dekker will be playing in the NBA at some point, the question is whether or not it’s sooner than later. I’m of the mind that Dekker should stick around at least for his upcoming Junior season next year to put on some more bulk as well as refine his game. Doing so will only help his draft stock not to mention what it what it would mean to the Badgers basketball program for the season after next. Admittedly a lot of that reasoning is based on my own personal fandom but thinking about a team with Dekker, Nigel Hayes, Frank Kaminsky, Josh Gasser & Brandon Koenig has go to get any Badgers fan excited. That could be a scary good team. Of course, I wouldn’t blame Dekker one bit though if he opted to go pro along with the big money that would bring him. There’s still plenty in this season of Badgers basketball so it’s not a question we really will have to focus on for a bit but for the sake of Badgers hoops fans, the program & perhaps even Dekker himself I hope the Sheboygan native decides to stick around for at least one more year and see where it takes him.
