St. Johns & BYU Next Up – This weekend should be a good one for Badgers’ sports fans as the hoops team will be playing Friday night followed by the football team on Saturday. What makes both these games interesting is who UW will be taking on. On Friday, the Badgers will be taking on St. Johns in Sioux Falls, South Dakota of all places. The Red Storm has everyone coming back from a team which made the NIT last year & are picked to finish in the middle of the pack in the revamped Big East. This first game by no means will be a walk in the park & a good tune-up for the Badgers to prepare for their next opponent, the Florida Gators currently ranked at #10. Saturday then UW will welcome the BYU Cougars into Camp Randall in a rare mid-season non-conference game. BYU is coming in with a 5 game winning streak & play a very fast, up tempo style of play which may challenge the Badgers defense. There’s also a chance Jared Abbrederis may miss the game with a nagging rib injury. One thing though in the Badgers favor is their head coach Gary Andersen who faced the Cougars for the last decade while at Utah State so has more than a passing familiarity with them. All in all is should be an exciting weekend of Badgers sports & something to perhaps help us forget about our new found angst about the Packers for a couple days.
