Ends The Drought – The last time a Brewer won a Gold Glove it was 1982 & that player was Robin Yount. Last night Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez ended that stretch by winning his first Gold Glove, beating Pirates CF Andrew McCutchen. Gomez provided defensive highlight reel after reel this past season with his run robbing & game saving catches so the award is indeed well deserved. On top of his almost nightly defensive gems Gomez had a helluva a year at the plate as well for what was a career season for him. Luckily the Brewers locked him up this past March to a 3 year extension so we’ll have the opportunity to see Gomez roaming the outfield for a while longer & maybe start a new streak of Gold Glove wins for him.
