pm-niners Yes, the Packers got screwed over by the refs and it may have made the difference in a win versus a loss. Again. But if the defense wouldn’t have played a completely deer in the headlights secondary scheme, it would have been completely moot. They lost by 6, so even taking away those 4 points the refs spotted them would not have mattered. Hate putting the Packers on the morgue slab the first week, but it’s not the end of the world. So let’s move on to the autopsy.

  • The offense is ready to rumble. Sure it took half the game for Eddie Lacy to wake up. That fumble was a rude welcome to the NFL, but he redeemed himself in the fourth quarter. Pity Mike McCarthy didn’t capitalize on that momentum for the running game.
  • The offensive line was excellent on pass protection but still sucks dead toads through a straw with the rush. If the Packers want to be contenders, then they have to be able to succeed with both.
  • David Bakhtiari got burned twice. Granted it was against some of the best defenders in the entire league. But the season is still young, and he will learn from that.
  • But there is no excuse for Josh Sitton’s 692 holding penalties today.
  • That said, the Niners had 932 holds during the game and none were called. How does that work?
  • But Rodgers was only sacked twice. If they keep up this pace, he’ll be sacked 20 times less than last season. That’s a good thing, right?
  • Randall Cobb was on fire. So was Jordy. What was 85′s name again?
  • No, seriously, why doesn’t Jordy get more props? More TDs in the past three years than any receiver in the league ,yet the world doesn’t know his name.
  • That Rodgers guy isn’t too shabby, but he’s going to be the death of me if he continues to throw everything and the kitchen sink at a defender trying to take an interception to the house.
  • And what about Ginger Wolverine and his tackling skills? Oh, and he has a mean kickoff too.
  • If Ginge would’ve kicked the PATs, Crosby would’ve had to suit up this week.
  • Like weeks better when the punter is the one picking his nose on the sidelines.
  • Why does Dom Capers still have a job? Does he have picture of Ted Thompson with a llama or something?
  • No, it wasn’t all Capers fault the defense stunk up joint, but he’s a big factor.
  • Casey Hayward and Morgan Burnett cannot get healthy soon enough.
  • The secondary got smoked, and apparently Bolden had invisibility spray on him.
  • While the secondary was stinky stank bad, it looks like the Packers are pretty effective at killing the read option.
  • Matthews owned Kaepernick. Hope that is the start of a beautiful relationship.
  • So great to see Johnny Jolly back playing in a real game.
  • Now about those refs…ignored a facemask on Lacy, dirty hit on Bush out of bounds and completely gave the Niners a free pass with a delay of game with nine seconds to go. Yes, Clay’s hit was dirty, but that was the ONE hit got called.
  • Grow up, Jim Harbaugh. Pretty sure every ref thinks he is a whiny sack of pus by now.
  • Didn’t like the defeat, but this is week one. And if the Packers showed their soft underbelly, so did the Niners. Kaepernick runs scared now that the shine is off the read option and teams know how to defend it. Good film for later in the season. They will meet again in January.
  • 0-1, but all is not lost. Lot of ball game left in the season.
  • And did I mention, WOO HOO, Packers football is back?
