Ed Note: I asked our resident Bucks export Milwaukee Brian to share his thoughts on this year’s Bucks. Let’s see what he has to say!
The 2012-13 Milwaukee Bucks: A team built on a foundation of solid front court defense with a lot of scattered pieces around it. Or wait, is this 2011? 2010? The Bucks enter a make or break season, the final contract years of their head coach, general manager, and possibly star point guard. Some of the themes the Bucks have built upon in recent seasons return; they are absolutely loaded with athletic, shot-blocking interior players. But they have to pick up where they left off last year on offense. The guard combo of Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis had the entire summer to develop chemistry, and they’ll feel the need to prove their abilities to the rest of the league. Will an incredibly young team be able to thrive on physicality alone, or can their undersized guards keep up a steady offensive pace? Key injuries around their division might help them hang in the playoff hunt later than usual, but only if they can stay consistent for all 82 games. It’s very literally a playoffs or bust year.
Well there you go, either the Bucks make the playoffs or they’re a high lottery pick! Should be an interesting season. With that I bid you all adieu for the week. Stay tuned for our Breeder’s Cup preview coming up this morning as well as the Pocket Doppler Prognosticators later this afternoon. Have a good weekend, don’t forget to turn your clocks back Saturday night & we’ll see you here Monday morning.
