Pretty Much Expected – The Packers only cut two players yesterday with most of the trimming being sending players to the PUP or IR list to get down to 75 yesterday. As has been pointed out, even though a player has been placed on the IR or PUP list they can still released once an injury settlement is reached & I would expect that to happen with possibly a few of those players. As for the two cuts, Jarius Wynn & Jon Hoese, there really just wasn’t room to keep them. With Wynn, & the Hargrove release the Friday before, there’s just too much young talent on the d-line right now & Wynn really was miscast in this 3-4 defense. This cut down usually doesn’t have many shockers & this was the case yesterday. The next one though, when the team has to get down to 53, may be where things get interesting as there will be some talented players looking for new teams. The fact the Packers will be forced to make those decisions though & release players with bona fide NFL playing ability isn’t necessarily a bad position to be in.
