Stand up guy – “ This is absolutely inexplicable and bordering on insane. There are no excuses…and all I can promise is I will continue to fight. ” , this was the post we saw from John Axford after yesterday’s game & say what you will about his recent pitching performances, you can’t fault the guy for no caring.  I know Axford has taken heat this year, I’ve given some myself, but seeing something like this from a professional ball player is refreshing & deserving of respect. Here’s to hoping the team & John can put together a better second half of the season.

Some people on Twitter used Ax’s tweet to twist the knife in his back. My response to his humility (also made via Twitter yesterday): “Hope you are able to get it figured out soon and can help Rogers notch a victory his next time out.”

I honesty don’t believe the guy is out there trying to blow games for the Brewers. I also think he would pitch better and fix whatever is wrong if he could. Sure, he has sucked this year. But I don’t believe it is for lack of concern or effort. Here’s hoping he gets himself right because they will need him if they are every going to return to contention at some point in future years.

I really like Ax and appreciate how frustrated he must be. I hope he figures it out, and soon, for his own state of mind as well as the Brewers.
