Right Time, Right Place? – The Brewers kick off a series against the Reds tonight in Cincinnati, the NL Central Division 1st place Reds lest you’ve forgotten. The Reds though will be without one of their most important players for a while, Joey Votto. You can scoff & say one player out, even one of Votto’s caliber, shouldn’t affect a team that much. I’d agree with you generally, but take a look at this SI.com article by Tom Verducci & you’ll maybe change your tune a bit. Votto is on my fantasy baseball team so I’m well aware of his talent, but before reading that I didn’t realize the impact he had on the run producing of the Reds: “He had scored or knocked in nearly a quarter of the Reds’ runs this year.” The Reds are still an overall solid team & the Brewers will have to be on top of their game going into Great American Ballpark this weekend but without Votto, I like the Brewers chances of coming out of this weekend on the winning end things & perhaps providing a little more hope for us fans.
that happy & hopeful (some would say delusional) note, I wish you all a phenomenal weekend. Enjoy the time away from work & we’ll see you back here Monday morning.
