There are Options – Lot of talk yesterday as to who can be the Brewers’ replacement at first base moving forward. As expected, Brooks Conrad was called up from Nashville yesterday & in the short term we may see him and Travis Ishikawa trading time in that corner. Once again there is talk about moving Corey Hart to first however that will most likely leave some holes in the outfield although I do think this should at least be looked at, giving Norichika Aoki a shot in right field. Biggest problem with this scenario though is Hart doesn’t want to be a fulltime first baseman, or at least that’s the impression I get. The final option is looking outside the organization, with Derek Lee being the primary candidate there. Personally I think the last option, bringing in Lee, is the best long-term or at least season solution. We’ll have to wait and see what the Brewers think.
Later this morning we’ll be debuting our first ever Kentucky Derby piece, focusing on the Top 5 +1 contenders in The Run for the Roses so make sure to keep an eye out for that. That piece originally was going to be this morning’s sign-off bit here but the author (& newest Angel!) did such a great job on it I couldn’t bury it here. So in anticipation of that post, here’s a recipe for Mint Juleps, enjoy the Derby on Saturday, your weekend as a whole & we’ll see you back here Monday Morning.
