Ed. Note: Filling in for me in the Daybreak Doppler this morning is Brian who looks at the Bucks playoff chances & whether it would be beneficial or not for them to actually get in.
The same message is still there for the Milwaukee Bucks; the schedule remains skewed in their favor. They are taking care of the teams behind them in the standings, but still struggle against tougher competition. They have one of the easiest remaining schedules in the league.
Playoffs? Playoffs?! The most optimistic scenario puts the Bucks in the 8th seed. As the worst of the playoff teams, they’d get the 15th pick in the draft and a very-likely first round playoff loss to the Chicago Bulls. The worst case scenario involves missing the playoffs and getting stuck with the 13th or 14th pick, the lowest of the non-playoff teams.
With little chance to jump up in the draft lottery, a quick playoff exit would be the better (i.e. fan friendly) option, and they should be able to sneak in with the few games left. A .500 record should also be a key priority for the end of the season. The Bucks are 3 games below that mark. Once this season is over, a summer offseason with newly-acquired Monta Ellis and Ekpe Udoh should yield one of the better Bucks teams in years.
