Welcome To The Party Montee Ball – There have been rumblings for some time now, but it would seem that after last week’s 4 TD, 156 yard game against Penn State Montee Ball is now officially on the Heisman Trophy watch list.  Here’s the problem, is it too late?  Unfortunately I think that may be the case for the Junior Running Back.  For the early part of this season, Montee Ball was hidden behind Russell Wilson who was getting all the Heisman hype.  After the MSU & Ohio State games, Wilson fell out of favor & it’s taken till the last week of the Big Ten season for Ball to emerge from that shadow as Wisconsin’s true Heisman hopeful.  I expect Ball may get an invitation to New York for the Heisman ceremony, but I don’t think he’s got a shot at winning it as either Alabama’s Trent Richardson or Stanford’s Andrew Luck (both who have been in consideration since early on) will walk away with the hardware.  The silver lining here?  Ball is only a Junior and should he actually decide to stick around for this Senior year (doubtful, I know), he should be on the Heisman radar early on after this season’s late surge.

I agree: Too little, too late for Ball based on how the Heisman votes decide on their winner. However, Ball should be a winner next spring when he gets drafted and puts together a solid NFL career.
