You can’t win ‘em all.
Unfortunately beyond that logic, you can’t even be within a winning strike of ‘em all. The Milwaukee Brewers lost the final game of the season series with the Colorado Rockies 6-2 and now embark of the final road trip of the regular season.
Shaun Marcum was just plain bad, getting kicked around for 5 earned runs and 8 hits over 5 innings. Chris Narveson took another turn out of the bullpen as his starting spot got skipped due to the off days. The pen did it’s work to keep the game in check, but the offense just didn’t happen.
Corey Hart led the game off with a triple and was brought home by Nyjer Morgan. Yet if you take away some of Colorado’s defensive miscues, including the wild pitch that yielded the Brewers’ 2nd run, the Brewers were even farther behind. This game truly felt out of reach once Colorado scored big in the 3rd.
The Crew really needs a tune up on everything. A suddenly miserable team at home, perhaps they’ll get a boost of luck on the road. They face the Cincinnati Reds as Milwaukee tries to hold onto playoff stability. St. Louis won today, shrinking the division lead to 5.5 games. If the Brewers can’t find that change of fortune, things might get a bit stressful for the team.
Tomorrow is a day off before the Reds’ series. Randy Wolf starts off on Friday.

I still believe the Cardinals are simply going to run out of time in catching the Brewers. But their current funk, along with some of the “news” stories coming out of the Brewers’ clubhouse, currently don’t inspire a lot of confidence for their chances in the postseason.
[...] No late night heroics last night for the Brewers as normally solid Shaun Marcum gave up 5 & the offense couldn’t keep up, as the Brewers lost to the Rockies 6-2. [...]
Yeah, things are looking grim right now. I’m still not worried about the Cardinals or missing the playoffs, just more worried about the Crew once we actually get there. Still time to get back on track.
