Milwaukee Brewers: 250 Words or Less: 9/5/11

It’s almost like the last week didn’t happen.
The Milwaukee Brewers, still feeling the sting of a sweep at home, put up their fourth victory in a row by beating the St. Louis Cardinals 4-1.
The Crew held a 10.5 game lead in the NL Central before the Cardinals swept the series in Milwaukee. They each took different routes to get to today, but that lead is back to 10.5, putting a Brewers division title in sight with 20 games remaining.
Randy Wolf had a fantastic performance this afternoon, with the one earned run coming on a Prince Fielder defensive miscue that could have potentially impacted a shutout. That didn’t bother Wolf who was thoroughly dominant from start to finish, which is what any team dreams of from a starter in the back of the rotation. St. Louis didn’t look ready to play, and while they took the 3 in Milwaukee last week, they’ve also lost 7 of their last 11 at home. It’s hard to come back in a division race when you can’t play well at home.
The Brewers on the other hand have been just as exciting to watch on the road. Since the beginning of August, Milwaukee is 14-3 away from Miller Park and has doubled its’ opponents score 102-51 over that stretch. Corey Hart continued his hitting streak, now at 17 games, while Ryan Braun and Nyjer Morgan each hit home runs to pace the Crew today. Yuniesky Betancourt drove in the 4th run on a nice 3-hit day. The magic number now sits at 11.
Yovani Gallardo continues to momentum tomorrow night.
A huge thanks to @BigSnakeMan for covering the work over the weekend. Covering the daily 250 is easy when you have a great squad coming off the bench.

Good to have you back in the saddle. That loser who filled in for you this weekend really sucked.
