The sweep is on as the Milwaukee Brewers closed out their 7th straight win against the Houston Astros 7-3.
Thanks to BrewTownBoozer and BigSnakeMan for helping to cover the “250 Circuit” during a plain weekend of baseball. The Brewers were expected to handle the Astros with ease and didn’t disappoint. Besides a grinding effort yesterday, Milwaukee’s starting pitching has been on a roll, putting up a 2.79 ERA in the last 20 starts, and the team has a 15-5 record in that time.
It was Zack Greinke’s turn at it today and he was extra crisp. He himself has a 1.38 ERA in his last 5, and other teams simply struggle to get going against him. Fans can be glad that they are finally seeing the Greinke they were expecting since his mid-winter arrival.
The offense looked just fine despite missing starters Corey Hart and Casey McGehee, both to injuries of untold significance. Yuniesky Betancourt gets the nod as PD Player of the Game. He drove in 3 runs today and has recorded a hit in 18 of the last 19 games. Most people won’t start ranting about an exciting future regarding Betaucourt, but it’s a bonus to have a lower end of the lineup player actually produce.
Tomorrow is an off day as the Crew makes it way to St. Louis for another big matchup against the Cardinals. The two teams have 9 games remaining between them, and each is bound to be more dramatic than the previous. Shaun Marcum will lead off on Tuesday.
