The Brewers closed out the series with the Cubs yesterday afternoon with a win reulting in a sweep as well.  As Brian says, although the Cubs are down this year that doesn’t make the sweep any less sweeter for the Crew .

In what I can only imagine is the first move to fill the void left by Rickie Weeks’ injury, the Brewers Acquired Felipe Lopez From the Rays  yesterday.

Nice Series – Discounting the injury to Weeks, a solid series for the Brewers against a team they should’ve and did beat.  This was also the first sweep of the Cubs since 2005 for the Brewers, a team which in the not so distant past has always been a thorn in the side of the ‘Crew.  Starting tonight is a series with the Astros, another team which the Brewers should beat up on handily & hopefully extend their lead in the NL Central. Should also be a busy weekend for Doug Melvin & I’m expecting to see at least one new face, beyond Felipe Lopez, on the roster before Monday.

That’s all for this week folks, it’s definitly been an interesting week with the end of the NFL lockout, the weeks injury and the MLB trade deadline coming up.  Thanks for spending some time here, have a great weekend and we’ll see you back here on Monday.

Sweeping the Cubs isn’t too much to brag about this season. They’ve only swept one series all season, which resulting in the ONLY time they’ve won three games in a row all year (against the only team more pathetic than they are). They’re turrible.

On the other side of town, the Bears front office has been watching too many Cub games during the lockout. They think that they also have to start unloading their good players by September. Bye, Greg Olsen!
