Even a great summer day couldn’t make up for this.

The Milwaukee Brewers dumped the middle game of the series 7-3 to the Arizona Diamondbacks, guaranteeing their first NL home series loss in a month. No part of this went well for the Brewers.

It especially wasn’t a good day for starter Randy Wolf, who got roughed up from the start. Arizona struck big right away, going all small ball for 4 runs in the first inning. Wolf, one of the more consistent Brewer starters as of late, was essentially left to battle on the field as a way to keep the bullpen fresh. He eventually went 6.0 innings, walking 4 and allowing 10 hits for 7 runs. He gave up 3 more in the 3rd, but calmed down for his final few. Marco Estrada covered two and Zach Braddock got the 9th as the Crew tried to fight back.

Prince Fielder accounted for 2 of the Brewers’ runs, including a smashed home run in the 6th. Corey Hart hit one as well, but they just couldn’t build any kind of rally.

Milwaukee has been outscored 62-47 over the last 10 games, and the starters have mustered a 6.87 ERA over that stretch. They were the biggest part of the big run they had earlier this year, and they are now the culprit for this losing streak. The offense on the other hand has put up 47 runs in the last 10, which puts them near the top of baseball for that category. All focus just seems to be lost with this pitching staff.

Yovani Gallardo, a part of the starters’ recent struggles, will look to help the team bounce back tomorrow morning.

It’s a good thing. Obviously moves need to be made at 3B, SS, and bench for this team to compete and this is amplified when the pitching gets roughed up a bit. It couldn’t happen at a better time with trade deadline coming. Moves need to be made. Nice job.

Like the long-term outlook Boozer. If you go camping, you have to dig your hole before you crap in it. Might as well get the tough work out of the way now, make your adjustments, and hope for smoother sailing ahead.
