Now this a game to be proud of.
The Milwaukee Brewers put together a good, complete effort in a 5-1 victory over the AL Tampa Bay Rays. Milwaukee has a chance to win a series tomorrow, having lost the previous two.
Zack Greinke did exactly what the Brewers needed: eat up innings as a starter. He went 7 fantastic innings, allowing his only run late in his game. He against had zero walks, and only 4 through 26.1 innings in the month of June. He has slowly pieced together what his performance should look like, and fans will be hoping it only gets better after this.
The offense took the lead right away and never gave it up. Casey McGehee singled in a run in the first and Yuniesky Betancourt hit a solo home run in the second to jump out right away. The team really looked like a different ball club from the past week and a half. They played with confidence and executed most of their fundamentals well, which is something they lost focus on during the short losing slump. It’s been easy for them to look like this type of team at home, but the road is where the issues remain. They still have some tough road games before interleague is done.
Shaun Marcum is still listed as the probable starter for tomorrow, though he may miss a start after a minor hip injury. If he can’t go, Marco Estrada would take his place.
