Bullpen Blows – In a game the Brewers should have won, enter Marco Estrada who in short measure let a 4-1 Brewers lead become a 4-4 tie. This loss was pretty discomforting on many levels as beyond the bullpen meltdown the Brewers also only went 2-for-16 with RISP, but to place this loss on the offense is ridiculous. You’re handed the game with the lead, it’s your job to leave it with lead.  I’ve been a Roenicke supporter since the word go but if there’s one area I question, sometimes daily, it’s his bullpen management.  Roenicke almost seems loyal to a fault to particular players, whether they should be in there or not.  On the bright side, the Cardinals also lost last night so no divisional race damage done.

In my opinion, the atrocious offense last night hurts way more than the bullpen problems. Bases loaded with no outs and bases loaded with one out in the same inning and they only come away with two runs? That stinks.

I don’t disagree the offense doesn’t have some blame, but they still put up 4 runs to 1 which should be enough for your bullpen to get the win yet.

Agreed, they *should* be able to win when they are up 4-1, and that is on the pen. However this is the Brewer’s pen we’re talking about. Most of the guys collect dust for 6 out 7 days a week and the others will need new arms by the end of the year from overuse so consistency isn’t going to be their strong point. A pop-up that makes it to the outfield in that inning with the bases loaded would have made the difference in the game.

Let’s just say that there’s plenty of blame to go around.
