Milwaukee Brewers: 250 Words or Less: 6/7/11

Former Milwaukee Brewer Chris Capuano put up his share of quality games during his time with the team.
He had a good enough outing tonight as the New York Mets beat the Milwaukee Brewers 2-1 to start a 6-game home stand and snap Milwaukee’s winning streak at 4.
Capuano and Brewers’ starter Shaun Marcum each went 6 innings. Capuano got the win while Marcum ends up with a no decision. He was pulled from the game shortly after 100 pitches and Marco Estrada allowed the winning runs for the Mets in the 7th. New York had a chance for more runs, but Carlos Gomez had an incredible catch to rob what would have been a 2-run home run. If you missed it, just check out Sportscenter’s Top 10.
With a score of 2-1, it wasn’t as much a pitchers duel as it was just a bit dull. What a turn around it was for Milwaukee, who dominated the final game of their road trip yesterday. Prince Fielder had the team’s only run, a solo home run in the 6th. The Brewers got one more run that inning, but had nothing the rest of the way. The team put enough balls in play, but on a hot, sticky night like tonight, things just weren’t going their way.
Randy Wolf continues the series tomorrow evening for the Brewers. The St. Louis Cardinals won tonight, putting an extra game between the two teams that will meet this weekend for an early-summer lead in the division.
