Milwaukee Brewers: 250 Words or Less: 5/9/11
Welcome to Milwaukee Zack Greinke.
Greinke made his Miller Park debut in front of a larger-than usual Monday crowd as Milwaukee beat San Diego 4-3. He only lasted 89 pitches as they continue to ease him back in from his injury absence. Through 6 innings Greinke allowed 2 runs on 5 hits to go with 9 strikeouts.
Rickie Weeks did his part breaking out of an offensive slump, picking up a 5th inning solo home run. The team as a whole looked more comfortable at the plate.
The team’s defense still isn’t great, but the Brewers can at least know it’s getting better. Some of the infield players still have trouble making accurate throws home.
Milwaukee did have an outstanding highlight reel play in the 8th. Needing to turn a double play, Yuniesky Betancourt made a running grab and behind the back flip to Weeks, who gunned it to Fielder to finish the play. John Axford pitched the 9th for the save.
Shaun Marcum will look to continue his impressive stretch as tomorrow’s starter.
