Philadelphia’s Roy Halladay, the reigning NL Cy Young winner, pitched a complete game in his last outing. That of course didn’t help him tonight.
Milwaukee put up a ton of offense against Halladay, one of the best in the game. The Brewers got to him early with a mix of small ball and power. Fielder and Braun each reached base 4 times and Casey McGehee broke out of a slump with a big 3-run home run.
Both Milwaukee and Philadelphia are near the best in the league in errors, but the Phillies had one that helped extend an inning in which the Brewers added 6 runs to cement their lead late in the game. Randy Wolf pitched 6 while only allowing 2 hits and striking out 5.
Chris Narveson faces another former Cy Young winner in Cliff Lee tomorrow as the Brewers look for the series sweep.
