Milwaukee Mid-Week Report – Week 7

Welcome to the Week 7 Version of the

Milwaukee Bucks Mid-Week Report:

What We Have Seen:

We have seen what we were hoping to see from Andrew Bogut. So far this week he has recorded 20.5 points, 16.5 rebounds and 5 blocks will picking his free throw percentage up to 64%. Bogut has averaged 18 shot attempts in the last 3 games they won, and he attempted only 12 in the game they lost. It’s a very clear sign of the role Bogut must have on this team for them to be successful.

What We Have Not Seen:

We haven’t seen the starters capitalize on Bogut’s recent success. Both Brandon Jennings and John Salmons have had decent weeks, but not well enough with the amount of attention Bogut is taking off of them. It would certainly be in the team’s best interest to see these two players help move the ball around better, contribute to some quick movement around the perimeter while Bogut demands all the focus in the paint. We have seen Ersan Ilyasova and Luc Mbah a Moute both have great weeks off the bench, and it’s incredibly important to get that help from your depth players.

What We Wish We Would Have Seen:

Indiana and Houston are two teams that the Bucks should have handled a bit easier. It wasn’t until the final seconds of each game that the wins were clinched. Any kind of boost to this team’s confidence should go a long way. It’s important to see how that confidence carries over. The next two games are against the two top in the NBA: Dallas and San Antonio. We want the team to be confident but not too confident. They need to feel like the underdogs, they need to feel some pressure of working from behind. Properly focused, they could turn things around right away.

What We Wish We Would Have Not Seen:

The last few weeks have been a bit on the “Debbie Downer” side of things. So we are going to take a stretch where we suddenly won two in a row, and as fans take some excitement from it. With the way things have gone up to this point, we’ll be happy to take anything. So we’ll look to the games ahead, and hope our optimism isn’t for nothing.

What We Wish We Could See But It Has Not Happened Yet So Therefore We Cannot See It:

December is a tough month. There are still 7 games remaining against over .500 teams. 18 of the next 27 games are out on the road. Milwaukee faced a similar situation last season up until their big run to the playoffs. This Bucks team MUST play well on the road in order to put some respectability back into the year.
