I believe the Avett Brothers summed up this situation very well in “Ill With Want” off of their latest album “I And Love And You”:

I am sick with wanting
And it’s evil and it’s daunting
How I let everything I cherish lay to waste
I am lost in greed this time,
It’s definitely me
I point fingers
But there’s no one there to blame

Ill with want and poisoned by this ugly greed

Given the history of such conflicts and the arrogance of certain owners, I wouldn’t hold out much hope for that kind of moderation.

Not only that, but how are we supposed to schedule future dates for fantasy football drafts if we don’t have some clarity on this issue.

With the economy still struggling, I suggest the parties complete a two-year extension to the current labor agreement, agreeing to disagree on the major issues (salary cap, extending season to 18 games) and perhaps tackle one or two less controversial issues(concussions and marketing revenue) to keep football operating and at the forefront of major sports. A more robust economy in two years will allow for a better negotiating environment for both parties.
