QUICK HIT: Badgers to Orlando

After the University of Wisconsin football team handily defeated Hawaii on the road Saturday night, they still held out hope for a bid to the Outback Bowl on January 1. On Sunday night, the Badgers found out that their disappointing late season loss at Northwestern allowed the Wildcats to leapfrog them and be selected to face Auburn in Tampa, Florida. Instead, the Badgers were chosen to play in the Champs Sports Bowl on Tuesday, December 29.
While the traditionalist in me would have preferred to see my favorite college team play on New Year’s Day, their game against the 14th ranked Miami Hurricanes provides a much more compelling matchup than they would have had against the unranked Tigers. The return to Orlando affords the Badgers a chance to avenge their humiliation in the same bowl against Florida State in which they lost 42-13. It’s also an opportunity to demonstrate how real their resurgence is this year against legitimate competition. A win over Miami could also result in a significant bounce to their recruiting efforts, particularly in talent rich Florida.

You are very right. That matchup is better and I too will miss watching the Badgers on Jan 1 but your post made me feel better about it. Hope it is a great game and as you say, it could benefit the Badgers program if they can pull this one out. Thanks.
Glad we could help; just consider it part of the service.
