QUICK HIT: A Word of Caution

So, after Monday night’s impressive win over the Packers, the national media is once again fawning all over Brett Favre and predicting great things for his Minnesota Vikings. But, think back to about a year ago at this time. Weren’t people saying the same things much the same things about Favre and the New York Jets? And we all remember how that turned out.
The season is still very early and Favre is still (almost, soon to be) 40 years old. It might be prudent to wait a while longer before we make their coronation official.

The main thing that Brent has going for him (beyond fear and surprise…the TWO main things, well, I digress…) is playing most of his games inside instead of in winter conditions. His performance has slid in recent years when he has had to face the elements late in the season. This year, that won’t be much an an issue. If they can avoid dates in cold weather locales in the post-season, I am liking his/their chances of going deep in the playoffs.
