So now Brett Favre isn’t so sure he wants to play for the Minnesota Vikings after all. As hard as it is to believe, it seems ol’ #4 is dithering yet again, wringing his hands at the 11th hour about his decision to return to the NFL. This should be a very instructive period for Vikings fans, giving them an opportunity to experience the anxiety Packers fans lived with annually from their Hall of Fame QB during the last four or five years of his tenure in Green Bay.

While I think Brett will decide to play for MN, it would be great if Favre decided not to, saying something like: “The more I thought about this, the more I realized what it would do to the fans in Green Bay. I cherish my relationship with that franchise and those fans. I don’t want to do anything that would drive a wedge between me and that team and the people that support it.”

I think that sort of play might redeem him to many GB fans who have been put off by his antics over the past year. I don’t think this is how things will come to pass, but as someone who wants to feel good about Favre again, I would be delighted to see it happen.

Maybe Brett will finally realize he should have followed through with his initial retirement. Maybe he’ll come to see that his relationship with Packer fans is too precious to jeopardized by his flirtation with the Vikings. Maybe he will……….NAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!

For our final answer, we’ll have to check in with ESPN. Apparently, the ‘Four Letter’ is hardwired directly into Favre’s brain.

I think this is more about PR. If Brett is experiencing so much “anguish” about playing it may give Packer fans that still have a modicum of respect for him the hope that maybe he is waffleing because it’s the Vikings and he knows how much angst it would cause Packer fans to play for the Vikings.

This Packer fan thinks it’s just because he wants the spotlight that much longer.

…or it could be that he is trying to hold up the Vikings for a few more dollars.

This is all about Brett, business as usual.

Who? really gives a damn? what…..ever! let him drive those folks nutso in minnesota. I must quote a famous statement here….

Frankly my dear…”I DON’T GIVE A DAMN” and that’s that! he has used up his welcome here. So, let’s move on to better times and forget ole whats his name!

Now that he has finally decided to stay retired, can we please put this behind us? I agree with those who say “who cares where he plays”, but I’ve got to admit that I am pretty relieved now that ol’ #4 seems to hang it up for good. I know it’s early in his retirement, but I do think that he will be welcomed back as a hero in time. The keywords beeing: in time. It would have been much harder for him to get that heroes return if he did join the vikings.
