Cure for Insomnia

ESPN’s Ed Werder reports today that Brett Favre is “anguished” over his decision whether to return to the NFL and play for the Minnesota Vikings. Wow…I am overwhelmed with angst and emotion over his dilemma. I can hardly sleep at night.
Please wake me up when this is over. This story has all the entertainment value and drama of Rocky IV (although I liked Rocky Balboa). Brett…either enjoy retirement to its fullest or come back and play pro football in Minnesota. There is some good hunting in Minnesota, ya’ know, but it is cold up there. Then again, the Vikes play indoors. Not a bad choice either way. I would be delighted to do either. The Vikings will finish 10-6 with you or without you. At this point in your career Sage Rosenfels and Tavaris Jackson can do pretty much what you can…your presence is not required for them to make a playoff appearance. Your potential teammates require an answer…they are big boys who will understand either way as long as you behave like a big boy and make a decision. Viking fans do not have an emotional attachment to you…if you decide to not play they will soon be over it and will refocus their attention on AD and the Williams Wall.
Your decision to play for other franchises does not hurt your legacy (I still don’t know what the term “legacy” is supposed to mean when talking about a football player). Your inability to make a commitment is what folks cannot understand.

You’re obviously not a Packer fan. I’m loving every minute of this as long as the Pack isn’t involved. Take all the time you need, Brett. In fact, the longer the better.
