QUICK HIT: Alternative Universes

59 year old Tom Watson leads the British Open championship after the first two rounds at Turnberry, Scotland while someone named Tiger Woods missed the 36 hole cut. Watson won the same tournament at the same venue in 1977. Suddenly, I feel like I’m 17 again. Okay, maybe not.
Meanwhile, back in Milwaukee, any Wisconsin golf fan who didn’t see Jerry Kelly playing in the U.S. Bank tournament on Friday via the Golf Channel missed a real treat. Not surprisingly, Kelly was a focus of the channel’s coverage of the event and was very engaging with their reporters and fans alike. Kelly has always worn his emotions on his sleeve, sometimes to his own detriment, but that’s a big part of the reason I find him enjoyable to watch. As usual, Kelly struggled some with his game but finished strong with a tap in birdie on 18 to climb to 3-under.
Here’s hoping both players can continue their fine play through the weekend.
