QUICK HIT: Dilfer on Favre

ESPN football analyst Trent Dilfer was being interviewed on the Jim Rome radio program yesterday when the topic turned to our favorite sports soap opera. While noting the inherent pitfalls in a possible return to the NFL by “retired” quarterback Brett Favre, Dilfer went on to say that, as a former player himself, he could understand Favre’s motivation to want to prolong his career. I would have liked to ask Dilfer (as a former player) how he would feel about having a teammate who skipped the entire offseason preparation and only wanted to participate (in a limited fashion) in training camp and play in the games. My guess is that would tend to engender a certain amount of resentment among most players who are required to fulfill all their team’s obligations.
