QUICK HIT: Another Reason to Hate Roy Williams

At the post game press conference following last night’s NCAA Championship basketball game, winning coach Roy Williams dropped into third person mode while at the same time trying to sound a note of humility. Pocket Doppler thinks this is bogus.
Williams, widely disliked around these parts for his disparaging comments regarding Wisconsin basketball, was a long time assistant to coaching legend Dean Smith. His head coaching resume in Division I basketball consists entirely of taking over programs at those notably moribund mid-majors, Kansas and North Carolina.
If Roy Williams is so great, we suggest that Roy Williams try coaching somewhere that Roy Williams won’t be able to trot five or more pro prospects onto the court for every game.

For my money, Roy Williams is the best YMCA basketball coach in America. Roy knows how to roll the balls out and let the kids work up and down. Well done, coach. Well done.
