Now that Wisconsin and Marquette have been eliminated from the NCAA tournament there is still reason to celebrate.
Sunday, while we were all concerned with the mens basketball teams, one Badger team did win a game. The Badger womens hockey team won the NCAA championship, beating Mercyhurst 5-0, to win their 3rd championship in the last 4 years, while last year losing in the championship game.
Congratulations to Mark Johnson and these young women for what they have accomplished these last four years. Additionally, congratulations go to Jessie Vetter, who was voted the winner of the Patty Kazmaier Award , as most outstanding player, in womens hockey.
The state of Wisconsin, and every sports fan in this state should be very proud of what these young ladies have accomplished. ON WISCONSIN!!

It is about time that Mark Johnson moves from Women’s Head Hockey Coach to Men’s Head Hockey Coach at UW.
