UCONN’s 93-82 win over MU should be remembered for the high quality of play of AJ Price. Price was excellent both from the 3-point line and driving to the basket, and Marquette simply couldn’t guard him. That effort will unfortunately be overshadowed.
The game itself was played at a frenetic pace, and on a couple of occasions if MU would have slowed down just a little to ensure getting a quality shot they would have been better served. The effort was tremendous…the execution on a few key possessions left something to be desired.
The primary reason they couldn’t guard Price was because Dominic James went out with a foot injury four minutes into the game. James injury dramatically changed the dynamic of this game and may well have a significant effect on the rest of the MU season. He is the team’s fourth leading scorer and leads the team in assists. However, his ability to defend the high scoring guards will be missed terribly. Mo Acker played admirably as his replacement, but he is 5’8″ and not Dominic James.
Tough break for James and MU. Season at a crossroads? We will soon find out. Next man in and get ready for Louisville.
